Hungary has a great history of filmmaking and may again become one of the most attractive locations in Europe. Its recent success is largely due to a recently introduced tax incentive regime, which enables film producers to save up to 20 percent of their production budget if it is spent in Hungary. In 2005, the money spent on film productions has more than tripled in Hungary. Among others, Hungary hosted two giant Hollywood productions, Steven Spielberg’s Munich and Twentieth Century Fox’s Eragon. The volume of Hungarian and European co-productions has also significantly increased.
